In-Kind Donations and FAQ

Contributions of in-kind gifts are a significant way to support Chrysalis Center. We welcome and are very appreciative of your support which helps assist our clients and families.

What does in-kind mean?

 Any donation which is non-monetary is considered in-kind. This includes the following: toys, household items, holiday gifts, etc.  These types of contributions allow us to reduce our program expenses by utilizing these donated items instead of using funds to buy items.

Food Pantry List of most needed items.

 

What types of items does Chrysalis Center accept?

  • Freshplace Food Pantry Needs: we serve up to 300 individuals and families each year through Freshplace with healthy and nutritious foods, and rely solely on the generosity of individuals and businesses to help fill our shelves. Items most in need include non-perishable food items such as: canned vegetables, soups, rice, pasta, tomato sauce, peanut butter, jelly and tuna fish.  (No sugar items please.)
  • Butterfly Boutique Needs: Our Butterfly Boutique is a space at Chrysalis Center which houses new and gently used household items for “Welcome Home Kits” when we place individuals and families coming from homelessness or challenging situations into new homes. We accept basic kitchen items (including dishes, bowls, silverware, glasses, pots, pans, cooking and bakeware items). WE CANNOT ACCEPT ANY APPLIANCES, BARWARE, USED LINENS/DISH TOWELS/TABLECLOTHS/POTHOLDERS/ETC. OR ITEMS WITH A CORD.
  • Other Items Needed:
    • NEW only sheets, bedding and towels
    • NEW only toiletry items (soap, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, deodorant, and other personal items)
    • NEW journals and craft supplies 

What items are unacceptable?

  • Used linens (towels, sheets, etc.)
  • Used bedding
  • Furniture
  • Electrical items (any items with a cord)
  • Automobiles

How do I donate items or host a collection drive?

To donate items contact Chelsey Logan at clogan@chrysaliscenterct.org or (860) 263-4419 to arrange a drop-off time. We welcome collection drives hosted by individuals, families, companies, community service, boy/girl scouts and Mitzvah projects!  If you would like to host a drive, please contact Chelsey Logan, Volunteer & Outreach Manager at clogan@chrysaliscenterct.org or (860) 263-4419. 

Auction Donations

Chrysalis Center hosts fundraisers throughout the year which benefit all of our clients and families. As part of our events, we gratefully welcome donations for our silent and live auctions, including gift certificates to restaurants, sporting events, wineries, jewelry and other items.
