La Cocina Manager

Job Description

The position is fulltime and instructs and supervises the organization’s culinary arts students, supervises meal production, and oversees the kitchen facilities. 

Job duties include but are not limited to:

  •          Supervising students  through on the job hands-on training. Demonstrating professional culinary techniques and methods as well as always projecting a professional attitude and manner.
  •          Supervising the production of meals. Consulting with other staff members if necessary to assure proper utilization of donations.
  •          Conduct training sessions/classes with CCK students in culinary methods, sanitation,   safety, and first aid.
  •          Develop and implement meal initiatives for clients, staff, and community.
  •          Work with placement and recruitment counselors by communicating all pertinent issues concerning individual trainees as well as class profile.
  •         Administer weekly exams.
  •          Maintain highest level of food quality and cleanliness.  Develop menu and identify menus for special events or meetings. Develop curriculum and training materials.
  •          Manage, maintain and repair of kitchen facility and all kitchen equipment, procuring repair services as needed.
  •          Supervise regular inventory control of specific product lines (i.e. chemicals, foodstuffs), placing orders and supervising check-in to assure accuracy.
  •          Maintain required Food licensure and code requirements of Kitchen.
  • Provide weekend/holiday coverage on rotating schedule, and off-hour coverage as needed.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Culinary Arts Certification plus a minimum one year experience in the food service industry, valid food safety cert. required.
  •          Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  •          Understanding of principals of recovery, demonstrated teaching/training ability and group and individual socialization counseling skills.
  •          Knowledge and proficiency in using computer applications, including standard Windows applications.
  •          Must be able to life 50 pounds and be able to carry objects.
  •  Vacation time will be mandated with one week to be taken in July each year.
  • Possess and maintains a valid drivers’ license, reliable vehicle, current registration and insurance.

  •          Demonstrates ability to adhere to strict Confidentiality and HIPAA Guidelines.
