Stories – Roger

Roger is an Air Force Veteran and father of two daughters, ages twelve and seven.

Upon returning from the Air Force, Roger worked as a carpenter, but soon lost his job. Life began spiraling downward for him - he became an alcoholic and found himself homeless. This past year, Roger began a road to recovery. He lived in a Middletown transitional housing program. Roger was then referred to Chrysalis Center for permanent supportive housing at the Phelps Mansion at Rockville.

Roger moved into his own apartment on September 4, 2013. He is maintaining his sobriety, is meeting with his case manager regularly, and is looking to find employment. Roger is spending time with his daughters and looking forward to his future.
